Animal Miniature no. 1: Chimp
This is the first in what I decided today (after doing another one) will be a series of ‘Animal Miniatures’. The second will be posted up here soon – I’ll leave you to guess what animal it is!
Dubious connection alert: I recently watched a fascinating documentary about British Renaissance art (people in the UK can still catch it here) and it included the beautiful miniatures of Nicholas Hilliard. I’m not saying this is my take on those (!!) but I was inspired by their shape and they definitely gave me an itch to do some more portrait-style drawings. Strange what leaps the mind makes, isn’t it? From exquisitely beautiful Elizabethan art to….this dentally over-endowed creature.

As a self-confessed bibliomaniac, I thought it was about time I did a book-themed doodle. Previous drawings have definitely been indirectly influenced by my favourite books (most obviously my favourite Victorian novels, what with all the pale, mad-looking women in structured dresses floating around on here) but have never actually done a drawing with actual books in it! Hmm, maybe keep your eyes peeled for some unexpected bookshelves in the background of future doodles…
A little doodle for my gorgeous niece on her first birthday.
Cornflower Blue – Feb 2014
Another drawing featuring a pale girl with a long, flyaway plait…seems familiar ! This is definitely becoming a recurring image with me, so it seems safe to warn you to expect more!
